Charles Lashley HILLYER was born in Brockenhurst, Hampshire,
England. He moved to Biddenden, Kent, England where in 1844 he
married Eliza Dean of Biddenden. They settled in Woodchurch,
Kent, England, and had 11 children.

Eliza Dean HILLYER died in 1871, and their son, Charles HILLYER died
in 1872. In 1873
he emmigrated to the United States with all of his unmarried children: Lydia,
Elizabeth, Benjamin, Susannah, Emily Rose, Clara Dean, and Kate. They settled
in Franklinville, Cattaraugus County, NY.
