Our POINGDESTRE family goes back to 1280. George POINGDESTRE
(POINDEXTER), our immigrant ancestor, was born 1627 in St. Saviour on the Isle of Jersey
in the English Channel off the coast of France. Initially
George settled in Willamsburg located in the Virginia
Colony.

The
POINGDESTREs lived on the Isle of Jersey in St. Saviour and St. Helier. They served in the government, as well as being Judges and Attorneys. Hence, the long recorded lineage of the family at the Société Jersiaise in St.
Helier, Jersey and elsewhere.
