Our POINDEXTER family goes back to 1627 and our immigrant George POINDEXTER (POINGDESTRE) who was from the Isle of Jersey in the English Channel off the north coast of
France.

Initially they lived in the Virginia Colony in the following counties:
New Kent, Louisa, Prince William, Hanover and Goochland. Later
they moved to North Carolina where they lived in Surry and
Yadkin Counties.
