The SVETZ Family

Stefana SVETZ was born on 27 Jan 1911 in Struga, Croatia, Yugoslavia. She was baptized in Sv. Djurdje, Croatia, Yugoslavia. Her father immigrated to the USA about 1916 looking for a better life for his family. Her mother and younger sister died of tuberulosis in 1917. On 27 Nov 1920, when she was nearly 10 years old, she traveled to Trieste, Italy. She boarded the S.S. President Wilson bound for the United States of America, arriving on 13 Dec 1920 where she joined her father. At that time, Yugoslavia was in economical and political upheaval.

Yugoslavia was formed as the Kingdom of Serbia and the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs. It was renamed in 1929 as the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It was comprised of Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Bosniaks, Macedonians, Montenegrins, etc.

On 18 Dec 1930 she married Rodney E. GOFORTH in Allegheny County, PA. In 1931 she starting suffering from tuberulosis and died 15 years later.
